The Network of Spiritual Progressives is excited to announce the
introduction of the Global Marshall Plan into the US Congress as H. Res
1078. The Global Marshall Plan is
premised on the notion that generosity and solidarity with all peoples
are better routes to homeland security than are domination and control.
Taking serious action to improve the well-being of all peoples will
help safeguard the well-being of Americans by drying up anti-American
sentiment that provide the breeding ground for terrorism.
Under the Global Marshall Plan, the United States would lead the other
G-8 nations in dedicating an amount equivalent to 1-2% of each
country's gross domestic product each year for the next twenty years to
eliminating poverty once and for all and to healing the environmental
crisis. We are currently soliciting endorsements from as many
individuals and organizations as possible.
It's the best way to get out of Iraq and empower the progressive
forces all over the world--by adopting a strategy of Generosity to
secure security, in place of the current strategy of Domination that
has led us and others into endless wars and into the fantasy of a war
on terrorism that will keep justifying every future war dreamt up by
the fearful and the militarists.

What you can do:
1. Endorse the Global Marshall Plan yourself by going to www.spiritualprogressives.org/GMP and entering your information.
2. Take the Organizational Endorsement Form to your faith community,
activist or social change organization, civic organization, or union
and ask for their endorsement of the Global Marshall Plan.
3. Send a letter or fax to your House representative asking him or her
to cosponsor H. Res. 1078 for a Global Marshall Plan. You will find
language that you can adapt on our website: http://www.spiritualprogressives.org.

can be found at https://forms.house.gov/htbin/wrep_findrep.
4. Call or visit your representative asking her or him to cosponsor H. Res 1078.
5. Respond to articles in the newspaper about Iraq, global poverty, and
violence in poverty-stricken areas by writing a letter to the editor
calling for a Global Marshall Plan and mentioning H. Res. 1078.
6. Approach your city council about passing a resolution in support of
H. Res. 1078 for a Global Marshall Plan. Complete instructions and
materials are available on our website.
7. Join the Network of Spiritual Progressives at http://www.spiritualprogressives.org and support our work on this campaign.
8. Embody generosity in your own life and talk openly about your desire
for a world that operates according to open-heartedness and generosity
rather than domination and control.
